Parents United is built on trust. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language, because you should never need a lawyer to understand how your data is handled.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run our community and support your family. That falls into a few simple categories:
- Details you give us directly, such as your name, email, and the messages you send.
- Membership and event activity, so we can keep track of what you have joined.
- Basic technical data, like your device type and general location, gathered to keep the site secure and working.
How we use your information
Your information helps us do one thing: support parents well. We use it to deliver resources you ask for, respond to your questions, send updates you have opted into, and improve the experience for everyone.
We never sell your personal information. Full stop.
Your rights and choices
You are always in control of your information. At any time you can:
- Access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you.
- Unsubscribe from any email with a single click.
- Ask us how your information has been used, and we will tell you.
How we protect it
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls, and regular reviews — to keep your information safe. No system is perfect, but protecting your family's data is a responsibility we take seriously.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you give your phone number and opt in on one of our forms, we may send you SMS text messages — such as community updates, event reminders, volunteer coordination, and, where you separately opt in, promotional and fundraising messages. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for assistance.
Opting in to text messages is always optional and is never a condition of using the site, becoming a member, or making a donation.
We do not share or sell your mobile phone number or your SMS consent to third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with the messaging providers that help us deliver these texts, and only so they can send them on our behalf.
